The Recovery menu allows you to perform various functions, such as reset the Samsung Galaxy S8 to factory defaults, if you do not get into the Android system due to a malfunction.
The recovery menu has to be opened slightly differently from previous models due to the missing physical home button. This now works with the Bixby button. We show you how the key combination is:
To open the recovery menu, turn off your Samsung Galaxy S8 completely. When the unit has been shut down, please press the following key combination to turn it on again: Press and hold simultaneously:
- Volume-Loud-Button
- Bixby-Button
- Power-On
Holds this combination until a small Android male appears on the screen. First with a circular arrow in the center, then with an exclamation mark. Do not worry, just wait about 20 seconds and the recovery menu will appear on your Samsung Galaxy S8.
The navigation in the recovery menu works as follows:
- Volume Down -> Scroll down
- Volume Up -> Scroll Up
- Power On/ Off -> Select entry or Confirm selection
You now know how to use thee recovery menu and navigate or select functions. Please be careful what options you perform here, since some of them can lead to data loss (Wipe / Factory Reset).
