Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Switch from Dalvik to ART runtime

The runtime on the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge determines how applications are executed. There are currently two different runtime environments available for the Android operating system. These are:

     - Dalvik - old runtime of Android
     - ART - new runtime of Android

ART will be the future for the Android operating system and can be activated already in Android KitKat within the program options. The Android Lollipop 5.0 version which will be available soon will have only ART as runtime environment. The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is currently still powered by Android 4.4.4 KitKat, so Dalvik is enabled by default.

The new runtime environment to ART program sequences can run leaner, which is visible in an increase in speed. Above all, the animated transitions in the menu navigation run more smoothly than with Dalvik.

Make sure that you have unlocked the developers options on your Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. If not, this can be activated as follows:

Open from the home screen the menu and then Settings --> Device Information

Tap now several times in rapid succession on the entry "Build Number". When finished the seventh tap the developer options on your Samsung Galaxy Note Edge are activated. These can now be accessed in the settings. So now open the developer options and tap within these at: "select runtime system".
A window will open in which you can now change to "ART".

Your Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will now take some time to implement this change. Maybe it becomes very hot during the process. Then the phone will restart. Your Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is now uses as runtime environment ART.
