On the Huawei P40 Pro, you will receive firmware updates from time to time, which provide you with new features and security updates. Now it may happen that you have learned about a new update but it has not yet arrived on your device.
If this is the case, then it makes sense to manually check for this new firmware update. This is done under Android with EMUI as follows:
Search Huawei P40 Pro firmware update manually
1. Open the Android settings
2. Navigate to "Systems" and then to "System Update
3. Your smartphone now automatically searches for firmware updates via a W-Lan or mobile data connection.
4. If a newer firmware version than installed is available, it will be offered for download
When the download is complete, touch the "Update" button to install the new firmware.
The Huawei P40 Pro is now updated. This process may take a while depending on the update. Afterwards, the smartphone reboots and the new firmware is active.
Firmware update only works with Sim card inserted
For Huawei smartphones, a new firmware update is only found when a sim card is inserted in the smartphone. If you do not have a sim card inserted, please use a corresponding card from Vodafone, T-Mobile etc.
Only then can a new firmware be installed using the method described above.
You now know the procedure to install a new firmware on the Huawei P40 Pro and also that it is important that the sim card is inserted in the smartphone.
