You may have created folders on your Huawei P20 Pro with pictures or videos on the internal memory that you would like to hide. Because not everyone should be able to see all the pictures immediately when the gallery is opened.
To hide files from the media scanner of the Android operating system, you must integrate a special file inside the folder. This is a so-called ".nomedia" file.
How to hide folders on the Huawei P20 Pro using a Nomedia file is shown in the following instructions:
Create Nomedia file and hide folder - Huawei P20 Pro
First download a File Explorer to your Android smartphone that can create files.
We recommend the file manager +, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Google Play Store:
Now open the file explorer and navigate to a subdirectory of your internal memory where you want to hide photos and videos.
Now tap on the symbol with the three dots in the upper right corner and then on "New" --> "File". You can now create a new file. Name them as follows:
- .nomedia
Please don't forget the dot in front of the .nomedia, otherwise the Android media scanner won't recognize this file. Tap OK to create the file.
The folder is no longer captured by the Android media scanner of the Huawei P20 Pro and therefore the files are no longer displayed within the gallery or the video player.
An alternative to the described method is the safe of the Huawei P20 Pro. You can find the instructions here.
