The Samsung Galaxy S8 is equipped with a quick rechargeable battery and charger that supports fast rechargeable batteries. This is very useful as it allows the smartphone to be charged to a usable part within a few minutes.

However, charging the battery is always a "stress factor" for the material. Because of the strong current, a permanent rapid charging can have a negative effect, which can affect the entire life cycle of the battery.

But, this has not yet been tested. So if you would like to be on the safe side and treat the battery of the Samsung Galaxy S8 as gently as possible, you can deactivate the quick charging function as follows:

Open the menu from the start screen and then the following submenu:

Settings --> Device maintenance --> Battery

In this submenu you have to tap the symbol with the three points in the upper right corner and then select "Advanced settings". In the "Charging" section you will find the desired option.

If you now connect the Samsung Galaxy S8 to the charger, this is charged with a lower charging current, which is gentler for the installed battery. You now know how to switch off the quick charge function for the battery on the Samsung Galaxy S8.

If you do not make any inputs or touches onto the display of the Samsung Galaxy S8 for a certain time, the lock screen is activated automatically.

The time that must elapse is called the screen timeout and can be customized in the system settings of Android. So if you want the S8 to be lighted longer or shorter after the last input has been made, you have to change this in the following settings menu.

The "Screen Timeout" option is invoked as follows:

Start screen --> App Menu --> Settings --> Display --> Screen Timeout

Here you have to choose the time between 15 seconds and 10 minutes. Remember, however, that the screen requires a lot of battery power when it is lit longer illuminated. For this reason, we recommend that you do not enter a value greater than 1 minute.

If you set the mark at a new value, this is taken directly for the Samsung Galaxy S8.

On the Samsung Galaxy S8, various settings are preconfigured from the factory. This also includes the intensity of the vibration that occurs during certain operations. For example, the vibrational strength for incoming calls, notifications or the haptic feedback can be precisely adjusted.

To do this, you need to navigate to the following sub-menu:

Starting from the Start screen, open the app menu and there the Android system settings. Go to:

• Sounds and Vibration -> Vibrating Intensity

Here you can see various sliders with which you can individually adjust vibrations:

Move the marking to the far left, then this means that the vibration Is deactivated.

If you set the mark to the far right, the vibration is set to maximum.

The Recovery menu allows you to perform various functions, such as reset the Samsung Galaxy S8 to factory defaults, if you do not get into the Android system due to a malfunction.

The recovery menu has to be opened slightly differently from previous models due to the missing physical home button. This now works with the Bixby button. We show you how the key combination is:

To open the recovery menu, turn off your Samsung Galaxy S8 completely. When the unit has been shut down, please press the following key combination to turn it on again: Press and hold simultaneously:

• Bixby Button

As long as Bixby is not working properly, this language assistant is certainly a very good alternative.

If you have used the memo app of your Samsung Galaxy smartphones so far, you will not find it on the S8. The Memo app is no longer available.

But do not worry, the app has just been renamed and is now called as follows:

• Memo becomes "Samsung Notes"
