If the Samsung Cloud is enabled on your Samsung Galaxy S8, then photos and pictures you delete in the Gallery app will be moved to the Trash. This is a useful thing because it will not delete photos inadvertently.

To do this, open the App menu on the smartphone and then the "Gallery" app, where you can view photos and videos. From here, continue to the three-dot icon on the top right. Select the icon and in the menu that opens, tap on "Settings".
