Samsung Galaxy S5 fingerprint sensor defective - How to test it

It can happen to you on your Samsung Galaxy S5 that you will get the following message on the screen with disfunction of the fingerprint scanner:

"An error has occured with the fingerprint sensor. If this message appears repeatedly, restart your device"

If you receive this error message on your Samsung Galaxy S5, then this can occur only once in circumstances. But If this error however occur again and again, even though you have restarted the smartphone, then you should check if the fingerprint sensor has a defect. You can test this best with the integrated service menu from Samsung. How to do, we now want to explain to you in our article:

For this purpose, please open on the Samsung Galaxy S5 the phone app. Switch within the app on the keypad and then type the following combination of numbers:

*#0*#

This will now lead you into the service menu of your Samsung Galaxy S5. You now see an overview of many tiles. The key for you is the tile with the name "sensor". Tap this and you will be forwarded in a submenu, where you find at the end the following test:

• "Fingerprint Test"

Tap here now the button "Normal Scan" and the fingerprint sensor of your Samsung Galaxy S5 will now conduct a small self-test. Here, a small test series is created, the results can be seen at the end.
In the column "Result" you should always see the result "Pass". Is this not the case and you can see here a red "Fail", it means that the fingerprint sensor is not working properly.

You can now only try if the fingerprint sensor comprises gross contamination and remove it if necessary with a clean cloth. Then repeat the test. If this also leads to a "fail" as a result, then you should take advantage of the warranty of your Samsung Galaxy S5.

You know now how to test the fingerprint sensor on the Samsung Galaxy S5.
