The runtime of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 determines how applications are to be executed. There are currently two different Android runtime environments. These are:
1. Dalvik - old runtime from Android
2. ART - new runtime from Android
ART will be the future for the Android operating system and can be already activated in Android KitKat. In the new Android 5.0 Lollipop version ART will be the only availbale runtime. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 currently still operates with Android KitKat. This is why Dalvik is by default activated.
ART can run program sequences leaner, which is visible in a felt speed increase. Especially the transitions in the navigation run more smoothly than with ART.
We show you now in our guide how you can switch fwith your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 from Dalvik to ART. And that works as follows:
Ensure that you have unlocked on your Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the developer options. If not, these can be activated as follows:
Open Menu -> Settings -> Device Information
Tap now several times in rapid succession on the "Build Number" entry. After the seventh touch at this entry the developer options on your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 are active. These can now be accessed in the settings. So now open these options and tap within these "Select runtime system". A window opens in which you can now switch to "ART".
Your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will now take some time to implement this change. Maybe it becomes also very hot for a short time. Then the phone will restart. Your Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is now using ART as a runtime environment.
