Changing the default email application on the iPhone or iPad - Here's how it works

Starting with iOS 14 it is possible to change the default apps on an iPhone or iPad using applications from the App Store. For example, it is now possible to change the email app by using third-party mail applications such as Gmail, Outlook, etc.

If we have aroused your interest, we will describe below where the corresponding settings can be found under iOS.

To change the default email application on the iPhone or iPad

The first step is to download a third-party email application to your iPhone or iPad.

1. open the settings on your iPhone or iPad

Scroll down and tap a third-party email client application, such as Outlook.

Tap Default mail application now.

4. here you can see a list of email applications installed on your device. This includes Outlook.

5. select "Outlook" again to set it as the default application for e-mail.

If you select a mail address in the browser, for example, the new mail application such as GMail or Outlook will be opened and not the one Apple has set as default.
