Android - Change the size of the keyboard

The size of the on-screen keyboard is an important aspect when it comes to writing text comfortably. With many keyboards, the size is not optimally adjusted at the beginning.

Changing the size of the Samsung keyboard

1.            Open the Android settings and then "General Administration" -> "Language and Input".

2.            From there, navigate to "On-Screen Keyboard" and then to "Samsung Keyboard".

3.            Select "Style and Layout".

4.            Then go to "Size and transparency".

5.            Adjust the keyboard size using the slider.

Now you have adjusted the keyboard size to the Samsung keyboard.

Change the size of the Swiftkey keyboard

1.            Open the Android settings and then "General Administration" -> "Language and Input".

2.            From there, navigate to "On-Screen Keyboard" and then to "Swift Keyboard".

3.            Select "Layout and buttons".

4.            Next, please select "Change size".

5.            You can now adjust the keyboard size.

So you know the steps to adjust the Swift Key keyboard size.

Change the size of the Gboard (Google keyboard)

Unlike Samsung and Swiftkey, GBoard keyboard does not allow you to change the width and height of your keyboard via the layout. So you have to activate the one-hand mode and adjust the height of your keyboard separately.

Step 1 Open the GBoard app.

Step 2 Go to Settings.

Step 3 Select "Lock keyboard sideways". You have the option:

  • Fix left

In this menu you also have the possibility to adjust the size of the keyboard. Use the corresponding slider to do so.

Change the size of the Fleksy keyboard

1.            Open the Fleksy keyboard application.

2.            Go to the Size tab.

3.            Choose one of three keyboard layout sizes: large, medium or small.
